Liam McGeary was born on 4th October 1982, in Kings’ Lynn Norfolk, England. There is not much information regarding his parents. His father used to be a boxer. McGeary used to spar with his father while training in Jersey. He even broke off some of his father’s teeth at the time. He also has five siblings.

Liam McGeary MMA Career 

McGeary began his training in MMA in 2009. He has an amateur record of 1-1 and started his professional career in 2010. McGeary has also fought in kickboxing and also took part in 2013 IBJJF World Championships. Furthermore, he won the London Seni BJJ 2010 tournament.

McGeary later signed with Bellator MMA. His Bellator debut was against Anton Talamantes on 4th April 2013, which he won via TKO in the first round. He showed great potential from his first bout.

McGeary was announced as a participant for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Tournament. He fought against Mike Mucitelli, Egidijus Valavicius, Keely Anundson for the title. In the finale, he faced Emanuel Newton and won the bout via unanimous decision to become the Bellator Light Heavyweight champion on 27th February 2015. He then signed a multi-fight and multiyear contract extension with Bellator.

The MMA fighter was able to defend his title against Tito Ortiz. However, he lost the title to Phil Davis on 4th November 2016, via unanimous decision. In recent events, he fought against Vadim Nemkov on 16th February 2018 but lost the fight via TKO.
